As was mentioned earlier this week, Blizzard has released a beta version of the updated community site for World of Warcraft,buying wow accountsto tie in with the release of Cataclysm. This is the first of a two-part article outlining the changes to the website, and how it affects the community.

The new website is still a work in progress, buying Aion kinah but seems to do very well to tie together the Armoury, Forums and News elements into a much more cohesive Community setting.

The website is definitely still in development, so the list of features may yet change, but here are some of the pros and cons of the new system to the old one.

Overview

Home Page
The home page is now a dynamic start place for your community experience, it shows the latest community news as well as your character feed, the latest hot forum topics and screen shot of the day.

Site Search
This feature now works to search the Armory for items and characters, as well as the forums for posts by title and author simultaneously.

Typing Character@Realm will automatically search the forums for any posts by that character, but for some reason will not displayed that character's Armoury.

Guides
The Guides section will contain up-to-date beginners guides to the game in general, as well as for each class, race and other back ground lore.

Community
The Community page will be the new home of all the fan-art, screen shots, contests and e-Sport events taking place.

Media
In the Media section, you will find all the official trailers, promotional material, concept drawings and in-game cinematics.

Services
Under Services, you can find the updated Account Management page, with all the old tools associated with your World of Warcraft account, including paid services, billing and the client downloads

Armoury
The Armoury has also received an upgrade, in the current beta the 3D character models are not implemented, and some of the features simply redirect back to the old Armoury, the layout is definitely more user friendly.

There are currently two layouts to choose from, Simple and Advanced (3D Model may be a third view)

lso has the ability to add comments,buying ffxiv gil but as yet there is still no functionality to search though NPCs, spells or quests. So I don't see the Armoury taking a market share from any of the other database sites as yet.

Thoughts and Feelings

The old website was definitely much in need of a facelift, and the new design adds a lot of features, and really changes it from the antiquated, cumbersome behemoth it was, and makes it far more pleasing to read and browse.

The integration of the forums into the system, the addition of comments to official news items and Armoury entries, adds a new sense of community too. Lets hope the comment rating system helps keep the Trolls at bay too.
